Trails range in length from short to long, with approximately half of these at lower levels; they can be enjoyed year round. Be sure to check out the Olympic National Forest's web site at: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/olympic/ for in-depth details and maps.
Remember, The National Park is pet friendly in the parking lot, but not on the trails. The Olympic National Park has over 600 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding and/or biking. Fish & Wildlife Hatchery: In downtown Hoodsport. Catch a crab off the Hoodsport dock! Hoodsport Shops: From hand-dipped ice cream, lattes & groceries (we have an IGA!), to unique gift & home furnishing items, Hoodsport has it! Several restaurants to choose from. Fishing licenses, bait & tackle at Hood Canal Outfitters.. Reflexologist and massage therapists by appointment (ask at Pier 101), tanning, local artists' gallery of jewelry, handmade furniture, pottery, tie-dye clothing & much more. Guide service available at Spruce Moose. Hood Sport 'n Dive for your SCUBA needs. Hoodsport Services: Include a bank, chiropractor, dentist, nurse practitioner, liquor store, grocery store, fitness center, post office & RV/boat storage. ATM at Lake Cushman Grocery just 2 miles from us and also at the Shell station & West Coast Bank in Hoodsport.. Hoodsport Trail Park: At mile marker 3 on Hwy 119, this loop nature walk with interpretive signs is 1/2 to 1 1/4 miles long depending on the loop taken. Leashed pet friendly! Hoodsport Visitor's Center: Stop by for trail information and conditions as well as area accommodation information and local activities/points of interest. On Hwy 119 between the Post Office and ProBuild. Open daily. Hoodsport Winery: Located just south of Hoodsport on Highway 101 and only minutes from Lake Cushman Resort, Hoodsport Winery produces some of the finest, award winning, Washington State wines. The gift shop and wine tasting room are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Lake Cushman Dam No. 1: Follow the signs coming up Hwy 119 for viewing opportunities. This dam is approximately one mile from Lake Cushman Resort. "One of the first major dams in the Pacific Northwest, Tacoma Power's Cushman Dam No. 1 was officially dedicated in 1926 when President Calvin Coolidge pressed a button in the White House to energize the project. The dam is on the North Fork of the Skokomish River near Hood Canal. It is 275 feet high and 1,111 feet long."
"...completed in 1930, forming the small 150-acre Kokanee Lake. This dam measures 235 feet above bedrock and is 575 feet in length." Lake Cushman Dam No. 2 Powerhouse: The powerhouse for Cushman Dam No. 2 is located on Highway 101 in Potlatch, just over 7 miles from Lake Cushman Resort. Please call the number below for information regarding tours available Monday - Friday with 10 days advance notice. "Electricity moves from the Cushman Hydro Project to Tacoma on a 40-mile-long transmission line...the power lines were the longest single span in the world."
Hunting: The Resort is in GMU 621 with 636 near by.
