Whether you are visiting Camp Cushman for the day or enjoying an extended visit, there are a number of activities you can take part in to make you experience even that much more enjoyable.

| Bird Watching |
If bird watching is what you enjoy doing, keep your eyes open for Bald Eagles, Blue Heron, Canada Geese, Crows/Ravens, Ducks, Goldfinch, Grouse, Gulls, Hawks, Hummingbirds, Jays, Owls, Robins, Woodpeckers and many more. We have started an album of snapshots of our local feathered friends and welcome additions!
| Boating |
Lake Cushman is great for kayaking, canoeing or just cruising around in your motorboat. Camp Cushman has three paved boat launches. There is a $5.00 launch fee. Please take the time to read the boating information on the regulations page.
Boating Regulations
6 MPH within 100 ft. of a diver's
flag indicating a diver is in the water.
6 MPH within 300 ft. of any boat launch.
6 MPH, or less if wake is created, within 150 ft. of shore, log boom or dock
extensions. (300 ft. preferred)
6 MPH within 150 ft. of any vessel not propelled my a motor or any vessel with a
motor not running (i.e. fishermen). Yield right-of-way to such vessels.
Children 12 and under require a life jacket in boats up to 19 ft. long.
Do not moor your boat at any dock (public or private) without permission.
| Fishing |
The waters of Lake Cushman are home to several types of fish including Kokanee, Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, and Landlocked Chinook Salmon. Whether you fish for relaxation, fun or are a serious angler, Lake Cushman is a great place to drop your line!
Fishing Regulations
Fishing is permitted at Camp Cushman; but not in designated swimming areas or near boat ramps. Please follow all rules, laws and regulations of the State Department of Fish And Wildlife relating to seasons, limits and methods of harvest.
| Games |
Camp Cushman has a horseshoe pit and a field to play volleyball in. You're welcome to play Frisbee, toss football with friends, kick a soccer ball or whatever you enjoy playing. Please abide by the regulations below when playing to ensure a great time for everyone.
Games Regulations
Playing games in a manner and/or location which subjects people, personal property, Camp Cushman resources or facilities to risk of injury or damage or is disruptive to the enjoyment of other guests is prohibited.

The Olympic National Forest has over 200 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding and/or biking that are divided into three general categories:
Primary: Major access routes and maintained at regular intervals.
Secondary: Primitive routes and receive less maintenance than Primary Trails.
Nature Trails: Special recreational paths and interpretive trails that are located near certain camping and picnic areas.
Trails range in length from short to long. With approximately half of these at lower levels, they can be enjoyed year round. Check out the Olympic National Forest's web site at: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/olympic/ for in-depth details and maps.

For the photography enthusiasts, Camp Cushman offers a great opportunity for the novice and experienced alike to put their cameras to good use. Surrounded by mountains, lush forests and plentiful wildlife, you're sure to find plenty to snap away at! Maybe you can help us with our bird album!
| Picnicking |
There are picnic tables located near the beach and throughout the day-use area for your use. Camp Cushman also has a Day-Use group facility to accommodate larger groups. The facility requires $100.00 damage deposit and a reservation fee of $75.00 plus $2.00 for each person ages six and older. Maximum capacity is for 72 people and 15 vehicles. If additional parking is needed and available, additional vehicles will be assessed a charge of $6.00 each.

Come and explore the depths of Lake Cushman, the sunken forest and hotel remains.
| Swimming |
The blue, mountain fed water of Lake Cushman is wonderful for swimming!
Swimming Regulations
No life guard on duty. Any person swimming outside the designated swimming area or in any area where no lifeguard is present, does so at their own risk. Children 12 years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult at all times when using swimming areas. No person shall give a fake or false signal or alarm of drowning in any manner. | Water Skiing |
Water skiing is so much fun! Launch your boat at one of the Camp Cushman's three boat ramps for a small fee of $5.00 and start having fun. Please keep in mind the following regulations listed below.
Water Skiing Regulations
Water skiers must stay a minimum of 150 ft. from any shore, log boom, or dock. (300 ft. preferred) If starting from shore, log boom or dock, proceed directly to at least 150 ft. from shore. Return to shore with tow vessel at no less than a 45 degree angle. Watch for sand bars and lake debris.
| Wildlife Viewing |
If you enjoy keeping your eyes open in hopes of viewing local wildlife, you can hike a trail or just scope out Camp Cushman. Some of the wildlife common in the Olympic Mountains are bears, bobcats, chipmunks, coyotes, deer, elk, fresh water otter, mountain goats, rabbits, raccoons, skunks and squirrels. Please keep the regulations listed below in mind when viewing wildlife.
Wildlife Regulations
Feeding of wildlife is prohibited. Do not attempt to entice or artificially sustain any wildlife with food of any kind. Be sure not to leave food unattended and to pick up and properly dispose of any food items you may drop.
